BroadsideReader
Turn your Apple TV into your favourite place to read.
Whatever you're reading, a novel, a script, a paper, deserves better than a laptop screen. The sofa, the lights low, the room quiet: this is where it belongs.
Bring what you already have
A novel you've been saving, a contract you need to get through, a script for tomorrow's rehearsal, an article you starred for later: whatever it is, in whatever format, Broadside Reader opens it, and lets you read it in comfort.
Read it your way
Reading, without the effort of reading
Some days you want to hold the book. Other days you just want the story, hands free, eyes free, unfolding on its own. However you'd rather take it in, it's still your book, just meeting you differently.
And there's more
We thought through the small stuff too, so you'd have it without having to ask.
Cue line & countdown
A line to speak from, and a breath of countdown before you start.
Mirrored view
Flips the text so it reads correctly through a beam-splitter glass.
Folders & tags
Nest folders as deep as you like. A tag keeps its place wherever a document is filed.
Search & bookmarks
Search your whole library at once, and mark the page you'll want again.
Reading ruler & typoscope
Underline the line you're on, or dim everything else, so your eye never wanders.
Atkinson Hyperlegible
A typeface built for low vision, ready whenever you need it.
Private, wherever you read
Private by default. Your library lives in your own iCloud, syncs to every device you own, and never touches our servers.

Need a hand?
Write to hello@lodestar.cv and a person will read it. Telling us the device, the app version and what you were doing at the time makes a fix much faster. From inside the app, Settings has a Send Feedback option that fills in the version and device for you.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a book onto my Apple TV?
Through the iPhone app. Add a document there the way you'd use any reader on your phone, and it appears on your Apple TV on its own, no extra steps, no need to keep either app open.
Does it work without an Apple TV?
Yes. The iPhone app is a complete reader in its own right, with everything the TV app has. The Apple TV is where the experience shines, but it's not a requirement.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once a document is on your device, it opens without a connection, on the TV or the phone.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
Not yet. We're building based on what our readers ask for, so if that's something you'd use, let us know and it'll factor into what comes next.
